During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned. A real-time procedure was executed on Nov 1 to perform a routine self-check of the Electrical Interface Assembly (EIA) Sequencer. A Chandra image release was issued on Oct 31 describing observations of MACS J1149.5+2233 using Chandra, Hubble, and the VLA. This system of merging galaxy clusters is one of six such systems being studied as part of the "Frontier Fields" project. The goal is to use multiwavelength data to learn more about how galaxy clusters grow through collisions. For details see: http://chandra.harvard.edu/photo/2017/macsj1149/ The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of SN2017egm, which is a follow-up to a Target of Opportunity accepted on Jun 17, and observations of NGC 5907 ULR and Uranus, which were accepted as Director's Discretionary Time Targets of Opportunity on Oct 17 and 29 respectively. |
