During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned. A Chandra press release was issued on Nov 30 describing observations of a pair of tightly coupled supermassive black holes which appear serendipitously aligned with the Andromeda galaxy. New data from Chandra and ground-based optical observations reveal J0045+41 is actually 1,000 times more distant than the Andromeda galaxy. The estimated total mass for these two supermassive black holes is about two hundred million times the mass of our Sun.
