Friday 24 August 2018 9.00am EDT
During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned. At 9:36pm EDT on Aug 20 the EPHIN and EPHIN Input/Output (EIO) units spontaneously reset. After examining real-time and recorder dump telemetry the engineering team concluded that the reset was most likely due to a single event upset. Because the EPHIN is no longer used operationally as a ground or on-board safing monitor, no immediate commanding response was required. Real-time procedures will be developed and executed to restore EPHIN and EIO to their nominal operating configuration. There was no loss of science time due to the reset. The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below. |
