Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 24 March 2023 9.00am EDT

During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

Following the real-time procedure executed on Mar 17 to return to the mixed-MUPS thruster configuration and enable autonomous momentum unloading on the OBC, real-time procedures were executed on Mar 17, Mar 18, and Mar 19 to dump OBC-A and -B memory. The dump will be used to update the baseline memory images maintained on the ground. An additional real-time procedure was executed on Mar 24 to uplink a flight software patch to adjust the HRMA Range Check Threshold. This update ensures that the check will respond to a stuck-on periscope heater.

Chandra passed through the 9th, 10th, and 11th eclipses of the season on Mar 18, Mar 21, and Mar 23 respectively, with nominal power and thermal performance.

Of note this week was the release on Mar 22 of CalDB version 4.10.4, which updates time-dependent ACIS Gain (TGAIN) files. For details see: https://cxc.cfa.harvard.edu/caldb/downloads/Release_notes/CALDB_v4.10.4.html

The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes observations of AT2022cmc, which are follow-ups to a Target of Opportunity accepted on Jan 6, and observations of GRB230307A, which was accepted as a Director's Discretionary Time Target of Opportunity on Mar 22.
