During the last week the observing schedule was replanned to incorporate an observation of Swift J1753.5-0127, which was accepted as a Target of Opportunity on Sep 29. Time from a scheduled observation of IRAS09104+4109 was impacted by the replan and will be rescheduled in a future week. A real-time procedure was executed on Sep 30 to perform a test of activating 8 Aspect Camera Assembly monitor windows to measure the effects of the ionizing radiation zone and to enable adjustment of the current requirement for Normal Maneuver Mode near perigee. An additional real-time procedure was executed on Sep 30 to perform an annual check-out of A-side MUPS thrusters, which are selected for use when Chandra is in its safe-mode configuration. Thrusters A2, A3, and A4 were fired and performed nominally. Thruster A1 was not fired due to the expected limited life remaining on it. Further real-time procedures were executed on Oct 4 to perform a routine self-check of the Electrical Interface Assembly (EIA) Sequencer and to perform a diagnostic dump of the Control Processing Electronics (CPE). Chandra passed through the 11th, 12th and 13th eclipses of the season on Sep 30, Oct 3, and Oct 5 respectively, with nominal power and thermal performance. Of note this week was the release on Oct 4 of the preliminary Chandra Source Catalog 2.1 cross-matched to four optical/IR catalogs (Gaia DR3, Legacy Survey DR10, PanSTARRS-1, and 2MASS) and SDSS DR17 spectroscopy. For details see: https://cxc.cfa.harvard.edu/csc/csc_crossmatches.html The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes observations of SN2023ozo, which is a follow-up to a Target of Opportunity accepted on Aug 17, observations of AT2018fyk, which was accepted as a Target of Opportunity on Aug 2, and an observation of V404Cyg, which was accepted as a Director's Discretionary Time Target of Opportunity on Sep 15 and is cooordinated with JWST, XMM, and ALMA. |
