Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 18 October 2024 9.00am EDT

During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

Real-time procedures were executed on Oct 11-13 to dump OBC-A and OBC-B memory as a follow-up to the flight software patches uplinked on Oct 11. The dump will be used to update the baseline memory images maintained on the ground.

Of note this week was the release on Oct 16 of the Sherpa 4.17.0 package for Python. This release of Sherpa incorporates bug fixes and new functionalities, including enhanced plotting capabilities, as well as improved documentation. For detailed release notes see: https://github.com/sherpa/sherpa/releases/tag/4.17.0

Also of note this week was the release on Oct 16 of CALDB 4.11.15, which updates HRC-S quantum efficiency uniformity data sets and includes additions to the PCAD ACA-primary DARK_CURR (dark current) file. For details see: https://cxc.cfa.harvard.edu/caldb/downloads/Release_notes/CALDB_v4.11.5.html

The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below, and includes observations of AT2024qfm, which is a follow-up to a Target of Opportunity which was accepted on Aug 1 and is coordinated with NuSTAR, and an observation of AT2024wpp, which was accepted as a Director's Discretionary Time Target of Opportunity on Oct 3 and is coordinated with NuSTAR.
