During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as
planned.
Chandra passed through the final eclipses of the 2006 summer season on July 15 and 18 with nominal power and thermal performance. A real-time procedure was completed on July 18 to disable SCS 29 due to the end of the eclipse season. A Chandra image release of the Galactic Center was issued on July 19. The image shows three massive star clusters: the Arches, Quintuplet, and the GC star cluster located near near the Galaxy's central massive black hole, Sagittarius A. For details see: http://chandra.harvard.edu/photo/2006/gcenter/ The schedule of targets for next week is shown below and includes observations of 1E 1048.1-5937 coordinated with HST and of M81* coordinated with the VLA. |
