Happy New Year from the Chandra team.
During the last two weeks the observing schedule was replanned to include an observation of SN2006jc that was accepted as a Target Of Opportunity (TOO) on 22 December. Loads were replanned and will be uplinked on Jan 6. As a result of the replan observations of SDSSJ090332.77+01123, 7C1023+3604, IRAS F10173+0828 and IGR J07506-1547 were impacted and will be rescheduled in a later load. A real-time procedure was conducted on Dec 26 to lower the Aspect Camera CCD temperature from -19 to -20 deg C. This is the final of a series of five 1 deg C step reductions planned to mitigate the increasing number of warm pixels. Preparations were completed for the start of the winter eclipse season that began on Dec 29. This 16th season consists of 1 short and 5 medium eclipses and will end on Jan 11. A real-time procedure was performed on Dec 28 to set the short eclipse flag to 'true' in preparation for the first eclipse on Dec 29. Chandra passed through the first three eclipses of the season on Dec 29, Jan 1 and Jan 3 with nominal power and thermal performance. A real-time procedure was conducted on Dec 31 to set the short eclipse flag to 'false' following the first (short) eclipse of the season. A real-time procedure was executed on Jan 4 to perform a routine self-check of the Electrical Interface Assembly (EIA) Sequencer. The schedule of targets for the replanned portion of this week and for next week is shown below and includes an observation of 3C273 coordinated with Spitzer. |
