During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as
planned.
A real-time procedure was completed on Jan 30 to reinitialize the flight software Thruster Command Processing subfunction to clear a benign overflow condition. A real-time procedure was completed on Jan 31 to dump OBC-A memory as a follow-up to a recent unexpected battery disconnect glitch counter value. The dump indicated the expected zero value and confirmed suspicions that the non-zero value was likely a case of on-board telemetry corruption. A Chandra image release was issued on Jan 31 of the supernova remnant G11.2-0.3. This SNR is circularly symmetric and contains a dense, rotating dead star at its center, representing a textbook case of what the remnant of an exploding star should look like after a few thousand years. For details see: http://chandra.harvard.edu/photo/2007/g11/ The schedule of targets for next week is shown below and includes an observation of Jupiter coordinated with New Horizons. |
