During the last week the observing schedule was replanned to include
an observation of m81-ot071213 with ACIS-S. The source was accepted as
a fast turn-around Target Of Opportunity (TOO) on Dec 19 and loads
were replanned and uplinked on Dec 20. The short (5 Ks) observation
was accommodated in the schedule without significant impact to other
observations.
A real-time procedure was conduced on Dec 14 to turn-on the ACIS DEA housekeeping telemetry. The action was a follow-up to the DPA-B turn-off on Dec 13. Real-time procedures were conducted on Dec 18 to turn off the EPHIN detector G high voltage and set the detector G failure-mode to "on". A software patch was also loaded to modify the RadMon function to recognize the change. The detector G high voltage was turned off in order to ameliorate voltage drops in the detector C high voltage that have been seen as Chandra's operating temperatures have increased. The change will optimize EPHIN's performance given the present thermal environment and observed detector efficiencies. The Chandra Cycle 10 Call for Proposals (CfP) was released on Dec 14 with a deadline for proposal submission of Mar 20, 2008. A Chandra press release was issued as a NASA Science Update on Dec 17. The release described the jet from a black hole at the center of a galaxy striking the edge of another galaxy, the first time such an interaction has been found. For details see: http://chandra.harvard.edu/photo/2007/3c321/ The Mission Planning team worked hard to develop a 2 week schedule to cover the holiday period as shown below. The schedule includes observations of M31 and M87 coordinated with HST and of 2MASSJ0523382-140302 coordinated with the VLA. |

All spacecraft subsystems continued to support nominal operations.
The next report is planned for Jan 4 following the holiday. A Happy Holiday and New Year to everyone from the Chandra Team!
