The P8 load continued to execute as expected. The 40 hour observation of Capella with HETG and ACIS-S was completed and the grating retracted via hardware command. Data taken during the HETG insertion was used to determine the correct angle limits for HETG and a software patch to update the appropriate k-constants was uplinked. Following retraction via hardware command, a procedure was performed to demonstrate HETG insertion and retraction via software command. However, the stored command sequence did not issue any commands to the HETG hardware and preliminary analysis suggests an incorrect command order in the SCS. The planned insertion and retraction was completed via hardware command to maintain observation sequence. The software commanding will be rescheduled once the SCS has been corrected.
The P9 mission schedule and load was generated, reviewed and signed off at the 8pm load review on 8/29 in preparation for uplink to the spacecraft. The P8 load will complete at 1am on 8/30. The P9 load will run for approximately 3 days and includes a series of parallel real-time commanding procedures with HRC at the focus for the first time. HRC activities will include initial configuration, adjusting SIM focus position, releasing the HRC shutters from launch locks and scanning the shutters. |
