Operations CXO Status Report

Wednesday 24 November 1999 5.00pm EST

During the last 48 hours, Chandra completed observations of 0540-69.3 with ACIS-S, the Chandra (AXAF) Southern Deep Field with ACIS-I, Trapezium with ACIS-S/HETG and entered the radiation belts with the pre-belt ACIS CTI measurement.

Two real-time tests will be conducted over the next 3 days, one with ACIS and the other with HRC. The ACIS test will check a revised software patch designed to mitigate the FEP-0 problem, and the HRC test will change one of the operating values of the processing electronics to check an image quality optimization. Both tests will be conducted without impact to the observing program.

During the next 48 hours Chandra will perform a joint observation of Jupiter with the Galileo satellite during its flyby of the planet and moon Io (observations will be made between 3am Thursday 11/25 and 9.30pm Friday 11/26). Observations will continue of HR1099 with HRC-I, the belt passage, continued HR1099 with HRC-I, A426 with ACIS-S, Cass-A with HRC-S and 2REJ1032+532 with HRC-I. The next mission load scheduled to start at 6AM 11/29 was completed and signed off today.

The spacecraft subsystems continued to operate nominally.
