Friday 17 December 1999 8.00pm EST
During the last 48 hours Chandra passed through the radiation belts with associated CTI measurements, observed NGC 253 with ACIS-S, TOO SN (A5) with ACIS-S and began a long observation of Lambda And with ACIS-S and HETG.
A gamma-ray burster Target Of Opportunity (TOO) was accepted today. The mission planing team developed a re-worked schedule to accommodate the target and observations with ACIS-S and the HETG are planned for 11:58pm 12/17. Plans were finalized for the uplink and test of the continuous dither software patch on 12/20. This patch will allow the observatory to dither at the start, end and during slews. The patch will be tested on 12/20 and planned for permanent uplink following assessment of the test data and coordination with ground system. Over the weekend, Chandra will complete the observation of Lambda And and observe the gamma-ray burst TOO with ACIS-S and HETG, pass through the radiation belts with the associated ACIS CTI measurements and perform observations of Cas A with HRC-I and Cyg X-3 with ACIS-S and HETG. The spacecraft systems continued to operate nominally. |
