During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.
Work continued on the fault tree analysis of the MUPS A-1 thruster performance reduction, with focus on the Valve Drive Electronics (VDE). A real-time procedure was completed on Jan 17 to update the on-board ephemeris. Chandra passed through the first eclipse of the 2003 Spring season on January 23 with nominal power and thermal performance. A Chandra image release of the spiral galaxy M83 was made on 22 January. The image shows numerous point-like neutron star and black hole X-ray sources scattered throughout the galaxy's disk. (http://chandra.harvard.edu/photo/2003/1154/index.html). The observing schedule for next week is shown below and includes a series of calibration observations of Vega and E0102-72. |
