During the last week the observing schedule was replanned to include an observation of the Gamma Ray Burster GRB030226 that was accepted as a 1 day turn-around Target Of Opportunity (TOO) on 26 Feb. An observation of OH231.8+4.2 was impacted by the TOO and will be rescheduled in a later load.
A current shift was observed in the output of Inertial Reference Unit-1 (IRU-1) on 25 Feb. The shift, from 155mA to 130mA during a 6 hour period is among the largest seen during the mission so far, however appears within family and conforms to occasional expected behavior from the units. An associated small gyro bias shift was also seen. A Chandra press release was issued on 27 February that describes observations of the pulsar B1957+20 (the "Black Widow") that reveals the first direct evidence of an elongated cocoon of high-energy particles.
