During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.
A Chandra image release of the supernova remnant DEM L71 was made on 12 March. The Chandra X-ray image reveals a hot inner cloud of glowing iron and silicon surrounded by an outer blast wave. For details see: http://chandra.harvard.edu/photo/2003/deml71/index.html. The rate of Cycle 5 proposal submission has increased as the 7pm EST Mar 14 deadline approaches. The proposal receipt software has run smoothly with ~350 proposals received with 1 day remaining. The observing schedule for next week is shown below and includes an observation of GX 339-4 coordinated with RXTE. |
