During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.
The IRU-1 gyro-1 current remained quiet and near 150 mA during the last week. The plan for swapping to IRU-2 on Jul 19 remains on schedule. The targets recommended for acceptance from the Cycle-5 Peer review were posted on July 11. For details see: http://cxc.harvard.edu/target_lists/index.html. A Chandra image release of the active galaxy NGC 1068 was made on July 9. This composite X-ray and optical image shows gas blowing away in a high-speed wind from the vicinity of a central supermassive black hole. For details see: http://chandra.harvard.edu/photo/2003/ngc1068/index.html. The observing schedule for next week is shown below and includes an observation of 1150+495 coordinated with the Hubble Space Telescope. |
