Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 26 September 2008 9.00am EDT

During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

A Chandra image release of the Circinus Galaxy was issued on Sept 25. The composite X-ray and optical (Hubble) data set allowed the identification of a bright blue source seen within the galaxy as supernova SN 1996cr, almost a decade after it exploded. For further details see: http://chandra.harvard.edu/photo/2008/sn1996/

The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of M82 coordinated with XMM-Newton.
