Happy New Year from the Chandra team.
During the last two weeks Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned. A real-time procedure was executed on Jan 8 to perform a routine self-check of the Electrical Interface Assembly (EIA) Sequencer. A Chandra press release was issued on Jan 6 in conjunction with the American Astronomical Society meeting in Long Beach, CA, describing a new dynamic view of the supernova remnant, Cas A. A new movie of data from Chandra shows changes in time never seen before in this type of object. And, an unprecedented and dramatic three-dimensional visualization of the same remnant by a separate team has been released. For details see: http://chandra.harvard.edu/press/09_releases/press_010609.html The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of Eta Carinae coordinated with Suzaku. |
