Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 30 January 2009 9.00am EST

During the last two weeks Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

A real-time procedure was completed on Jan 26 to update the on-board ephemeris.

A flight software patch was uplinked on Jan 30 to update the telescope thermal health check threshold. The update is in response to increasing temperatures due to degradation of the Observatory's thermal covers during the mission.

A Chandra image release was issued on Jan 27 from a new study of NGC 604, the largest region of star formation in the nearby galaxy M33. The image provides the first deep, high-resolution view of the region in X-rays. The composite Chandra (X-ray) and HST (optical) image shows a divided neighborhood where some 200 hot, young, massive stars reside. For further details, see: http://chandra.harvard.edu/photo/2009/n604/

The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes a followup observation of the TOO 1E1547.0-5408.
