Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 25 September 2009 9.00am EDT

During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

A Chandra image release was issued on September 22 of the center of our galaxy. The mosaic of 88 Chandra pointings represents a freeze-frame of the spectacle of stellar evolution, from bright young stars to black holes, in a crowded, hostile environment dominated by a central, supermassive black hole. For further details see: http://chandra.harvard.edu/photo/2009/gcenter/

Of note this week was the Chandra 10-Year Symposium held in Boston, MA. The meeting was very well attended and the range and quality of the science presented was outstanding.

The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of GM Aur coordinated with Gemini/North
