During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as
planned.
A real-time procedure was executed on Oct 16 to clear the EPS fetch-and-validate glitch counter. A second real-time procedure was conducted on Oct 16 to perform a diagnostic dump of the Central Processing Electronics (CPE). A Chandra press release was issued on Oct 22 describing the most distant galaxy cluster that has yet been discovered by combining data from NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory and optical and infrared telescopes. The galaxy cluster, known as JKCS041, is located about 10.2 billion light years away, and is observed as it was when the Universe was only about a quarter of its present age. For details see: http://chandra.harvard.edu/press/09_releases/press_102209.html The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below |
