During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as
planned.
A real-time procedure was completed on Mar 31 to uplink a flight software patch that updates the telescope thermal health check threshold. The update is in response to increasing temperatures due to degradation of the Observatory's thermal covers during the mission. A second real-time procedure was completed on Mar 31 to update the on-board ephemeris. Additional real-time procedures were executed on Mar 31 and Apr 1 to dump OBC-A memory as a follow-up to the thermal health check patch. The dump will be used to update the baseline memory image maintained on the ground. A Chandra press release was issued on Mar 29 announcing the selection of the 2011 Einstein Fellows who will conduct research related to NASA's Physics of the Cosmos program, which aims to expand our knowledge of the origin, evolution, and fate of the Universe. For details see: http://chandra.si.edu/press/11_releases/press_032911.html The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of GRB110328A, which was accepted as a Target of Opportunity on Mar 29. |
