During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned. A real-time procedure was executed on Jun 7 to update the on-board ephemeris. A Chandra press release was issued on Jun 4 describing observations of CID-42, a galaxy located about 4 billion light years from Earth. New data from Chandra and other telescopes suggest that a massive black hole is likely being ejected from this galaxy at a speed of several million miles per hour. For details see: http://chandra.si.edu/press/12_releases/press_060412.html Of note this week was the release on Jun 5 of CXCDS 8.4.5 for standard processing, which includes support for the upcoming Cycle 14 Peer Review. The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes observations of PTF12dam, which was accepted as a Target of Opportunity on May 29, and an observation of M31* coordinated with HST and EVLA. |
