Friday 7 September 2012 9.00am EDT
During the last week the observing schedule was interrupted due to high radiation associated with solar activity. The loads were halted at 8:57am EDT on Sep 3 through a ground command to execute the SI Safing SCS 107. This ensured that the accumulated radiation dose for ACIS remained below the allowed threshold. All spacecraft actions were nominal. A replanned schedule for resuming science observations was uplinked on Sep 4 with 48.0ks of science loss. Planned observations of SDSS J1227+6803 and SDSS J123915.40+5314 were impacted and will be rescheduled. Chandra passed through the eleventh, twelfth, and thirteenth eclipses of the season on Sep 1, 4, and 6 respectively, with nominal power and thermal performance. A real-time procedure was executed on Sep 4 to dump and clear a glitch counter that incremented during eclipse exit on Aug 27. The counter increment is expected under certain timing and thermal conditions. A real-time procedure was executed on Sep 5 to perform a routine self-check of the Electrical Interface Assembly (EIA) Sequencer. The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of PNV J06393874+0553520, which was accepted as a Director's Discretionary Time TOO on Aug 29. |
