Friday 31 May 2013 9.00am EDT
During the last week the observing schedule was interrupted due to high radiation associated with solar activity. The loads were halted at 4:41pm EDT on May 24 through a ground command to execute the SI Safing SCS 107. This ensured that the accumulated radiation dose for ACIS remained below the allowed threshold. All spacecraft actions were nominal. A real-time procedure was executed on May 24 to disable SCS-29, which was enabled during the safing sequence. A replanned schedule for resuming science observations was uplinked on May 25 with 52.8ks of science loss. Scheduled observations of 3C441, ESO 313-5, and 3C455 were impacted and will be rescheduled. The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of NGC 404, which was accepted as a Director's Discretionary Time TOO on Apr 26, a follow-up observation of a new magnetar, which was accepted as a Target of Opportunity on Apr 26, and observations of Sgr A* coordinated with the EVLA. |
