During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned. Chandra passed through the third, fourth, and fifth eclipses of the season on Jul 26, 29, and 31 respectively, with nominal power and thermal performance. A Chandra press release was issued on Jul 29 as a NASA press release describing Chandra observations, which for the first time detected in X-rays a planet outside our Solar System passing in front of its parent star. The X-ray data suggest the planet HD 189733b has a larger atmosphere than previously thought. For details see: http://chandra.si.edu/press/13_releases/press_072913.html The schedule of targets for next week is shown below |
