During the last week the observing schedule was replanned to incorporate an observation of SN2013ge, which was accepted as a Director's Discretionary Time TOO on Dec 2. A planned observation of SDSS J005527.46-0021 was impacted and will be rescheduled in a future week. A real-time procedure was executed on Dec 4 to perform a routine self-check of the Electrical Interface Assembly (EIA) Sequencer. A Chandra press release was issued on Dec 4 as a NASA press release describing observations of the X-ray binary Circinus X-1. X-ray binaries are systems with either a black hole or neutron star in orbit with a companion star like our Sun. Researchers found that the neutron star in Circinus X-1 is less than 4,600 years old, making the X-ray binary much younger than any other known in the Milky Way. For details see: http://chandra.si.edu/press/13_releases/press_120413.html The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of A0620-00 coordinated with the EVLA and the SMARTS 1.3m telescope and an observation of SDSS J1539+3954 coordinated with the Hobby-Eberly Telescope |
