Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 27 March 2015 9.00am EDT

During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

A Chandra press release was issued on Mar 26 as a NASA press release describing a study of 72 colliding galaxy clusters that sets new limits on how dark matter interacts with itself. Dark matter is the mysterious substance that makes up most of the matter in the Universe. X-rays from Chandra and optical data from Hubble were used to help narrow down the possibilities of what dark matter can be. For details see: http://chandra.si.edu/press/15_releases/press_032615.html

The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of GRB 150314A, which was accepted as a Target of Opportunity on Mar 19, and observations of the Pleiades coordinated with Kepler.
