During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned. Real-time procedures were executed on May 26 to patch the on-board computer flight software to allow simultaneous commanding of MUPS-A and MUPS-B thrusters for OBC-controlled momentum unloads. Chandra is now configured to use a mixture of MUPS-A and MUPS-B thrusters during normal operations. This improves the reliability of the OBC autonomous safing system. Real-time procedures were executed on May 26 and 27 to dump OBC-A and OBC-B memory as a follow-up to the patches. The dumps will be used to update the baseline memory images maintained on the ground. A Chandra press release was issued on May 28 describing results from a study to better understand the nature of space and time. Using observations from Chandra, Fermi, and VERITAS of some of the most distant objects in the Universe, the results set limits on the quantum nature, or foaminess of space-time at extremely tiny scales. For details see: http://chandra.harvard.edu/press/15_releases/press_052815.html The observing schedule for next week includes an observation of SNhunt275, which was accepted as a Director's Discretionary Time Target of Opportunity on May 26. The schedule, with a planned start of Jun 1, is still in work. |
All spacecraft subsystems continued to support nominal operations.
