A Chandra photo release was issued on May 11 describing observations of CXO J101527.2+625911. This is a supermassive black hole displaced from the center of its galactic host. This black hole may have "recoiled,” when two smaller supermassive black holes collided and merged to form a larger one. For details see: http://chandra.si.edu/photo/2017/rsmbh/ The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes observations of GRO J1750-27, which was accepted as a Target of Opportunity on 11 May 2015, and Jupiter, which is coordinated with the Juno spacecraft. |
