Q&A: Black Holes
Q:
Could a black hole in our galaxy ever be strong enough to suck
our solar system into it?
A:
It would have to be so close that its gravity could overcome the
orbital acceleration of our solar system around the center of
the galaxy. That would be well within a light year, even for a
million solar mass black hole, which we would definitely know
about!
