X-ray, Infrared, Optical & Radio Images of G352.7-0.1
Supernova remnants are created when a massive star explodes and its remains are hurled into space. Astronomers have found a supernova remnant that it is sweeping up a remarkable amount of material -- equivalent to 45 times the mass of the Sun - as it expands. This supernova remnant is called G352.7-0.1 and is seen in these images showing X-rays from Chandra, radio waves from the VLA, infrared data from Spitzer, and optical data from the DSS. G352.7-0.1 is found about 24,000 light years from Earth in the Milky Way galaxy.
