Q&A: Normal Stars, White Dwarf Stars, and Star Clusters

Q:
How many binary star systems has Chandra discovered in other galaxies?

A:
The increase in the number of binary star systems discovered in other galaxies is one of Chandra's greatest achievements. The exact number is changing every day as new data are reported. Around 500 new binary systems have been discovered in the galaxy Centaurus A alone, and many (dozens to hundreds, depending on the particular galaxy) have been reported in other galaxies as well.
