JUNE 3 - 7, 2001
The 198th Meeting of the American Astronomical Society (AAS) at the Pasadena Center in Pasadena, California from June 3 - 7, 2001 was hosted by the California Institute of Technology, the Observatories of the Carnegie Institution of Washington, and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

2. Globular Cluster X-ray Sources in M31
Albert Kong of the CfA presents results of a series of Chandra observations of globular cluster (GC) X-ray sources in M31. Among some 20 GC X-ray sources detected in the M31 observations, 2-3 of them show super-Eddington luminosity.

Gordon Garmire of Penn State relates findings of a 970 ks exposure to the region of the Hubble Deep Field-North which has led to the identification of over 350 X-ray sources.

4. Chandra Observations of the Eastern Limb of the Vela Supernova Remnant
Paul Plucinsky of the CfA presents initial results from two Chandra/ACIS observations of the so-called Vela "Bullet D" region on the eastern limb of the Vela supernova remnant. The Bullet D region is a bright X-ray feature which protrudes beyond the blast wave on the east side of the remnant.

8. The Extraordinary Chandra Light Curve of V1494 Aql
Sumner Starrfield of Arizona State University discusses V1494 Aql, discovered on 2 December 1999, the brightest nova in the northern hemisphere since V1500 Cyg erupted in 1975. Activating a Chandra Target of Opportunity proposal for bright novas in outburst, the investigators obtained ACIS-I spectra on 15 April and 7 June 2000.
